Israeli forces escalate attacks on Gaza, killing hundreds

Israeli forces intensified attacks on Gaza, killing hundreds, including civilians seeking aid. The US-backed Gaza Humanity Foundation has been criticized for its aid distribution mechanism. International organizations argue that Israel is using humanitarian aid as a military and political tool.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Hundreds of Palestinians were killed and wounded on Sunday as Israeli occupation forces escalated their attacks across the Gaza Strip. Among the casualties were dozens of civilians attempting to obtain humanitarian aid.

Journalistic and medical sources in Gaza reported that airstrikes and artillery shelling since dawn had resulted in at least 65 deaths and 315 injuries, including 17 people waiting for aid in distribution areas in the southern part of the Strip.

Despite severe challenges caused by the ongoing siege and deteriorating healthcare infrastructure, ambulance teams managed to transfer the wounded to Nasser Medical Complex and field hospitals in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll from aid-related attacks since May 27 has risen to 300, with more than 2,649 injured. The Israeli army has been accused of using the aid mechanism as a tool to humiliate civilians and force them to flee their homes.

Under the US aid distribution plan, the Gaza Humanity Foundation, a US-backed organization, is responsible for humanitarian assistance in Gaza. It manages so-called “humanitarian bubbles,” designated for remaining Palestinians in neighborhoods enclosed by walls and barriers, with entry restricted to individuals who pass biometric identity verification.

Little is known about the Gaza Humanity Foundation, which was officially registered in Geneva in February. The United States has endorsed the foundation but has not clarified its direct involvement in operations.

The organization’s founder and CEO, Jake Wood, is a former marine sniper who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. His social media posts indicate strong support for Israel.

International organizations continue to criticize the aid distribution mechanism, arguing that it is being used as a military and political tool against civilians in Gaza.

With full American support, Israeli forces have been conducting military operations in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Reports indicate that over 184,000 Palestinians have been killed or wounded—most of them women and children—while more than 11,000 remain missing and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.
